Avengers: Doomsday’s New Korean Poster Divides Fans Over Loki and the Lineup

Doctor Doom looms over Loki, Thor and the X-Men in the new Korean poster. Fans welcome the crossover but question the collage and Shang-Chi’s absence ahead of December 18.

A new Avengers: Doomsday poster brings the crossover into focus

Loki beside Gambit. Steve Rogers holding Mjolnir. Doctor Doom looming over them all. The new Korean Avengers: Doomsday poster turns the December 18 crossover into a single crowded battlefield, and the reaction is split in the Reddit discussions we read. Some participants welcome the character lineup; others think the collage falls short of the occasion. The useful question is what this artwork tells us about Marvel’s pitch for the film—and where reading a poster turns into guessing the plot.

Disneyphile reports that the artwork was unveiled for the South Korean and Chinese markets on October 12, 2026. The image reproduced here is the Korean version. Our reaction roundup draws on two public discussions checked on October 13. These are examples of fan responses, rather than a representative poll. They cannot establish an approval percentage, a sharing record or a consensus across the wider audience.

What the poster shows: Doctor Doom, the X-Men and colliding worlds

Between the title and the team, two globes sit in a catastrophic glow. Sentinel figures frame the gathering below them. Our visual reading is that the threat extends well beyond a superhero fight in a city. Recognisable powers occupy the foreground, while something much bigger unfolds behind them. That contrast gives the artwork its strongest immediate argument: even a gathering this powerful might not be enough.

Disney’s official US synopsis describes heroes from three universes heading into a deadly collision. The poster fits that premise without explaining the disaster’s cause, the identities of the affected realities or the outcome. Doom’s imposing position invites speculation about his responsibility. It does not, by itself, confirm that he causes the collision or reveal how the heroes will respond.

Positive fan reactions: Loki, Gambit and Cyclops stand out

In r/marvelstudios, ROBtimusPrime1995 welcomes Loki’s appearance in an outfit that participants associate with the end of his series. SorryRoof1653 hopes the collision of worlds will become a spectacular cinema moment. In r/Marvel, another commenter particularly likes the depiction of Cyclops and Gambit’s powers. These responses focus on the appeal of the characters and the scale of the promised spectacle.

To our eyes, Cyclops’s red beam and Gambit’s purple energy are instantly readable even when the image is small. That is useful for artwork circulating on a phone: viewers can quickly find a favourite and a reason to look closer. The harder question belongs to the film. Will each character have a meaningful part in the story, or will the pleasure of recognition outweigh the drama connecting them?

Negative fan reactions: the collage and character poses draw criticism

Cool_Nerd2 in r/marvelstudios compares the composition to character images found on Google and assembled together. In r/Marvel, Key_Hearing4347 says it looks fan-made, while other replies criticise awkward poses. These are responses to the arrangement and finish of the image. They do not establish that AI created it, and they are not reviews of a film the commenters claim to have watched.

Our interpretation is that the individual poses are more successful than the group composition. There are plenty of colourful details to catch the eye, but that competition can make the overall scene harder to read. An ensemble poster must showcase its stars and suggest that they inhabit one shared moment. The latter is where these criticisms land. Enjoying the proposed crossover does not require enjoying every piece of its marketing.

Is Shang-Chi in Avengers: Doomsday? What is confirmed

Several participants ask why Shang-Chi is missing from this particular image. That is a reasonable question about the selection of characters being promoted. However, Disney’s official US movie page includes Simu Liu in the cast. The omission therefore cannot establish that his character has been removed, dies in the story or will have only a tiny role. The artwork and the cast listing provide different kinds of information.

The same distinction applies to other theories circulating around the image. Thor’s lightning colour alone cannot confirm a new power, and a character’s size on a poster is not a screen-time measurement. Marketing establishes a visual hierarchy. The film establishes the alliances, decisions and consequences. Reading those two things as interchangeable would make the poster promise answers it does not actually contain.

What to watch next before Avengers: Doomsday opens December 18

We find the artwork more persuasive as a promise of a crossover than as a complete composition. The contrast between the huge, still figure of Doom and the heroes in motion works; the lower half feels busier. That tension leaves room for both anticipation and criticism. The discussion also captures the expectations attached to an Avengers movie: the image has to sell scale while giving individual favourites a place in it.

Disney confirms that Avengers: Doomsday opens in US theaters on December 18, 2026; France gets the film on December 16. Before the countdown reaches release day, watch Marvel’s official movie page for further artwork and footage that could clarify this lineup. Future marketing may give Shang-Chi or other missing heroes their own spotlight. Until then, share the poster with one question: which detail makes you most excited, and which would you change? Whether this gathering has the dramatic weight its artwork promises remains a question for the finished film.
